General Australian Geography

Australia represents an island of 7 686 850 km². It's the biggest island in the world. This island / continent is surrounded by vast oceans and seas (Indian ocean, Pacific ocean, the Timor sea,.). Australia is the country wit the largest amount of beaches: 25 760 kilometres of coasts.

The Australian landscape

Australia is generally speaking a very flat country. The Victorian Alps however are an exception to the rule. It's in this area that you will find the ski resorts (state of Victoria). Between snow, red desert, white sand beaches.it'll be hard for you to choose.

Population

Sydney , Melbourne , Brisbane et Perth are the biggest cities.
Aboriginal people are mostly located in the north of the country (Northern Territory et Western Australia and Queensland). It's rare to come across aborigines in the south of the country.

L'Outback

What is the outback? It's the Australian version of the outback. You have to know that the majority of Australia is cover by deserts or very dry landscapes.
The outback is very characteristic, red soil very rich in metal; it's a truly breathtaking landscape. Avoid this part of Australia during summer as temperatures are scorching. Winter is however a perfect time to visit these wide spaces.

The Great Barrier Reef

The most beautiful thing that you can see in the world is in Australia. From Bundaberg to Papua New Guinea, it covers 2000 kilometres south to north. It will be certainly the best experience of your life.
The great Barrier reed is the biggest coral reef in the world. It's impossible to understand the beauty of this environment before you actually go there. From all destinations in Australia, this is the one you don't want to miss! Even if the sea is not the place you feel really comfortable, you will only have the choice to fall in love with the Great Barrier Reef.
